1) When was the National Institute of Technology founded?

The INT was founded on December 28, 1921.

2) What contributions did INT make towards the Brazilian technological development?

It pioneered many areas of studies, such as: technologies for the use of alcohol as fuel for vehicles, metrological regulations, vegetable oils as fuel, process for the use of charcoal in steel industry and services on information technology for the business sector.

3) How many labs does INT have?

INT has a physical infrastructure that includes 19 laboratories, from which 5 accredited by Inmetro. It also counts with a Center for characterization in Nanotechnology for Materials and Catalysis (CENANO).

4) What are its areas of competence?

The technical competence of the INT is distributed into the following specializations: Product Certification, Catalysis and Chemical Processes, Corrosion and Degradation, Industrial Design, Energy, Assessments and Production Engineering, Testing on Materials and Products, Technological Innovation, Processing and Characterization of Materials and Analytical Chemistry.

5) What is the relationship between the Institute and the Embrapii?

INT, along with the Technological Research Institute of São Paulo (IPT) and the Center for Integrated Manufacturing and Technology (SENAI/Cimatec), Bahia, is responsible for the pilot service of the Brazilian Company for Research and Industrial Innovation (Embrapii). Established to develop technological innovation projects for national companies, Embrapii entrusted INT with the responsibility for this service in areas related to Health and Energy.

To participate in the sustainable development of Brazil, through technological research, transfer of knowledge and the promotion of innovation.
